Don Maximiano Founder’s Reserve 2004 came atop Château Mouton Roschild, Château Latour both of the 2005 vintage, rated by Robert Parker as one of the best ever, and of Italian Super Tuscans Solaia and Sassicaia 2004. This outcome once again showed the excellence of Chilean wines, and a firm consistency in capturing the audience’s preference throughout the different Berlin Tastings held until today around the world.
The event was moderated by Søren Frank and Niels Lillelund, two of the most important wine journalists in Denmark.
Prior to the tasting, Eduardo Chadwick, President of Viña Errázuriz, lectured on Chile as a world class appellation and the conditions that make it a viticultural paradise.
The Berlin Tasting is part of Viña Errázuriz philosophy of educating the international audience on the development of Chilean wine, and its potential to produce highest quality wines, as shown in these tastings. This event thrust Chile’s wines into the international spotlight when a panel of renowned European experts ranked Viñedo Chadwick 2000 and Seña 2001 first and second, respectively at a blind tasting that included some of the best wines in the world.
